Make sure you have installed the right one in the right place. There is one for MediaPortal (built-in TV) and one for TV-Server. If you aren't using the Client/Server setup then you don't need the one for TV-Server.

That's all I can come up with.

k thanks again...i was using version E, not sure that's the right one..i.'ll try version C...haven't seen one that has been released that specifically says it's for 1.0 RC2

i smell an Acronis image being made if and when i get this media portal running like i want...

got the plugin imported...i'm guessing(hoping) the freeze within MP is the guide populating itself......

both version can be found in the Plugins section from the home page, top of the 4th page of the EPG plugins.

Looks like the version to use is for TV2 not TV3

Might explain the crash.

is it normal for media portal to freeze while doing the initial update...i can see i have some channels imported but can't do anything else....i saw in the instructions to allow 20 to 45 minutes (not like i have a choice)...also says Recorder is busy, even though i'm not recording...oh well, i'll wait and see what happens.

no problem, i'll hang loose and see what happens....seems to have populated some of the channels though it's frozen right now...lost my tv though i think that's related to the channel updating....time consuming but fun, in a i like pain sort of way.

figured out the freezing, i had too many channels scanned in (all the digital which i can't receive on the tv card)...anyways killed those, media portal starts up great, tv channel list is all there, BUT, now the TV doesn't work.....back to the drawing board, making headway though. Just tried to do an autoscan within the configuration and it crashed....rebooting just in case.

interesting, media config crashes every time i try to scan channels now....guess i need to delete them and start over.

very odd...uninstalled MP since i couldn't get the tv working...got it working after reinstall...set up some shares and installed schedules direct, it stopped working again.....

channel scans work within the configuration...but no picture when i launch MP........haven't installed Schedules direct yet may as well give that a shot....i'd think it was some sort of codec problem with media portal..it's finding channels within the program when i do a setup wizard, but i can't see any of them.

course right when i typed that channel scans was working within configuration it stopped working.....

found a definate problem...only had .net 1.1 installed....had service pack 1 for both 2 and 3 but the applications themselves weren't installed...

got the tv working within media portal, hope it lasts....what i finally did was turn the TV ON on and off 2 or 3 times and it kicked on...not sure why that does it, the tuner works fine in WinTV....otherwise i'd get a signal not detected error message.....

1 step forward, 2 steps back.....

TV works, most of the time...sometimes i have to exit media portal and come back in when the piicture is black..that seems to work....videos don't seem to play though, i have powerdvd, h264 codec and divx installed....maybe i should check my media player version....swtiches me out of media portal when i try and play a video.

everything finally works (though the tv is still buggy and i have to close media player every now and then to get it working...no idea what causes that, i hear sound but no picture)....made an acronis image since i'll probably mess things up trying different skins....


if anyone knows why the tv would cut out randomly please let me know.

Please confirm are you using TVServer? Or just built-in TV Support in MediaPortal? If you're not using TVServer, you should be!
