What could be the problem if a downloaded file from NGC HD in x264.mkv format does not start to play (black screen) in Mediaportal, but it does work in all my other players like WMP, MPC, VLC, etc.?:confused::mad::eek:
I thought MP uses the same technique as WMP, or something??

The movies I download in x264.mkv always run in MP with no problem, but not this downloaded recording... Any help is very much appreciated. :D

Reading through the forum and asking about it with my friends, more people do have this problem with MP. :(

I just hope all the trouble with x264 files in MP will be resolved soon, because it is THE mainstream format used for encoding tv, video and film these days.

It's like saying in Dreamweaver that you can't use jpg on websites...

for now I use zoomplayer (external player with big fonts) and a wireless htpc keyboard/trackpad. maybe I can switch to a mce remote when they fix this.

I'm using PDVD7 for .264 and found I have to UNcheck the H/W accel option inside MP's Config Filters eventhough H/W accel ON is fine for .mpg

That because your graphics do not support h.264 decoding, even my 7900 does not play nicely with dxva for other codecs, only mpeg2.
