So I'm a COMPLETE newbie with MP, need a little help with tuner setup, as I'm getting an "allcardsbusy" error after scanning for channels.

Here is my basic setup
Windows 10 Professional
MP 1.12.0
Tuner(s): HDHomeRun Prime, HDHR3-CC (with CableCard), Firmware: 20150615

I'm re-scanning now....

I can provide any log files, I'm just not sure which ones there are so many.
I will also put up some screen shots after the channel scans complete.

Thanks to all in advance!

Thank you MM! I've uploaded the log file dump to this thread now per the Watchdog tool.

Thank you mm, I followed the CableCARD Tuner guide to the letter, and I am no longer getting the "AllCardsBusy" error. But I'm getting a different hitch now... after getting all the channels loaded, etc, they are still failing all channel tests. I am either getting a Channel Scrambled or unable to create graph. BTW, all my chanels are coming in with the red symbol indicating encrypted. This reminds me of what happened when I was trying to get things working under Windows 7 Media Center. I do know that my CableCard is fully recognized/authorized by my Cable company. I've attached another log dump from WatchDog after this run through.

    Okay.

The predominant issue I'm seeing in your log files is that when you try to stream a channel, the CableCARD comes back and says you don't have any entitlement to the channel.
    For example:
    [2015-08-19 10:43:12,661] [Log ] [31 ] [INFO ] - Controller: find free card for channel KJRH
    ...
[2015-08-19 10:43:14,283] [Log ] [53 ] [INFO ] - DRI CC: device 7 descrambling status update, old status = Unknown, new status = Not possible (no entitlement)
    ...
    [2015-08-19 10:43:29,572] [Log ] [31 ] [INFO ] - card: WaitForFile - no audio was found after 15.0035074 seconds
    [2015-08-19 10:43:48,997] [Log ] [31 ] [INFO ] - card: WaitForFile - audio and video stream is scrambled

This is not something I've seen before. At first read "no entitlement" seems like an indication that the channel is not part of your bundle... but that seems wrong, because unless I'm mistaken KJRH is a local channel, and therefore you should have access to it.

    Who is your cable provider?
Are you sure that your cable provider does not lock down all their channels with "copy once" digital rights management (DRM)?

Yes, KJRH is the local NBC affiliate here in Tulsa, OK. My cable provider is Cox Communications. They just underwent a transition to all digital, meaning that you can no longer get basic channels without a "mini-box". I have two Tivo DVRs running CableCards, and they are working perfectly (though they have to be attached to a Digital Tuning Adapter (Motorola MTR700) to get some channels properly. On my PC, I have the SiliconDust HomeRun Prime HD Tuner, with a Cable Company provided CableCard inserted (and paired/recognized/authorized), then a Motorola tuning adapter connected to the HomeRun HD. In essence, this is mimicking my Tivo setup.

Before I tried MediaPortal, I was trying to use the native Windows 7 Media Center, and it recognized the tuner and cablecard, but it also told me channels were not authorized. Kind of the same result as with MP.

Okay. COX is nasty. My understanding is that they flag most/all channels as "copy once" (meaning: protected => can't view or record them in MP). This does vary a bit from market to market, so there's a chance some channels will be usable in MP... but unfortunately it's a slim chance. :(

Unlike MP, WMC supports DRM. That means you should be able to view all/most of your channels [in WMC] if your CableCARD is authorised/paired/whatever properly. The fact that your channels are not working in WMC strongly suggests that your CableCARD is a dud or not authorised properly.

You're in a bit of a pickle with W10 because you don't have WMC, and therefore you can't cross-check whether channels are working. If I were you my next steps would involve one or more of:
    • installing a temporary version of W7 for testing with WMC
    • installing the Silicondust software package so you can test with HDHR View (or whatever they call it - I forget)
    • calling your cable provider's CableCARD hot-line and asking them for help
    • contacting Silicondust and asking them for help

I'll try a new CableCard, and also ask them about the "copy once" question.

I had some channels working with WMC with Win7, but sadly, none of the channels I was interested in. One by one, the analog cable channels were flipped to digital, so I could no longer use my "straight in" Cable Tuner.

I'm almost resigned to the fact that I may end up just streaming shows on my PC that I normally used to record. They (Cox) get so much money from me every month, they shouldn't treat me like a pirate lol.

Unfortunately there's nothing we can do about the problems you're currently battling. However, I hope you manage to sort them out and that we'll see you back again at some point. We're very willing to help with other stuff.

    Good luck! :)
