Allow TAGS to be used for Sorting (1 Viewer)

This is my first post on this site. I've been introduced to MP, but as of yet I am not a user. For the past few years I have been using Meedio, but since the creators are no longer around, I am always keeping my eyes open for something new. MP is very similar, hence why I am posting.

In Meedio, a plugin existed to allow a user to upload tag data from Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 and 3.0. This allowed the user then to sort all their photos and run a slideshow based on the tags selected.

The database used by Adobe Photoshop Album can be opened by MS Access. This made it very easy for the plugin creator to import the database records into a plugin database and then the User Interface they created allowed them to select tag groups and then specific tags, making slideshows very customizable. I have a database of pictures that numbers over 3000. With the tag data, I could easily pick out photos of one of my children for a specific period, or view photos that were tagged with a specific vacation tag name.

Do you think it would be possible to incorporate something similar into MP?

This feature in Meedio received a high WAF rating.

Yes, I agree - Utilizing tagging of photos in MP would be a great idea if it became real. Maybe a plugin which would allow tagged photos from Flickr to be used - like the screen saver app called slickr (can be found here)

I am always willing to consider something new, if it will get me more than I have today.

Unfortunately, I have 3000+ photos already tagged in Adobe Photoshop Album. That's kind of hard to give up.

As I said before, since it is an Access like database that stores all the tag data and file locations, it would be great if that database could be utilized. If you would like to see it, I could send you a subset, as the complete DB is 41MB.

johnnyb - I still think using the database used with MP would be the best direction. I think in your case it would work if an export from your database into the db used by MP. But all our talk won't help unless tagging would be incorporated by a developer into the My Pictures plugin that exists in MP.

Right, on both accounts. What Meedio did was import the database file, into its own database structure, just as you are suggesting for MP. Yes, on the 2nd point two, we need a developer to incorporate this feature so we can take advantage of sorting by tags.
