Hi, I'm a very enthusiatic new user of MediaPortal (24 hours) and very old IT person (39 years).
Setting up MediaPortal was just great an fun. In 30 minutes I had all my music, pictures and DVD migrated.
This morning I decided to add TV-Server and again it went up in a minute, installed the proper Hybrid card and launched the configuration.
End of the fun.
The hardware is installed as "Analog 713x BDA Analog TV Tuner" and when I pressed "Add SVHS Channels" it immediatly found and add a "CVBS#1" and a "S-Video#1" to the TV Channels.
The problem is that when I select one of the two Channels and press Preview, I receive the message " Preview failed:confused:WEncoder Missing".
If I try to Add Radio Channels I get the message "Please install a supported audio/video encoder for your software analog card".
I think I tried everything I found around in this forum and in the internet without any kind of improvement.
On the same PC I have Dscaler installed and it shows the streams without a glitch.
Any suggestion on how to get further with debugging?
My PC is a Medion HTPC and the cards shows in Device Manager as Medion SAA7134, Hybrid Capture device (TV Antenna, FM Radio, CVBS, SVHS).

Thanks for repying to my query.
I went again through the guide you mentioned which I had already checked even though is indicated as "obsolete".
Using Graphedit I couldn't locate any of the 3 encoders mentioned in the guide, but I think that Cyenrlink should be the one for my card because a CD containing Cyberlink PowerDVD 9 was included in the origonal packaging of my Medion PC.
Now I tried to install PowerDVD 9 but made no progress with my problem.
My questions now are:
- assuming that I find theright product containing the right encoder, how do I find which specific file is the encoder and how do I tell MediaPortal its name?.
- all the links to the encoders in the guide are pointing to expired links, and there is no direct replacement of the products with a new one...

Honestly, I think I'm missing the logic of how this should work.
I understand that with the current version of MediaPortal I don't need to use Graphedit to configure the TV Server... but at the same time I don't know if and how I'm supposed to tell TV Server which encoder to use...

Can anybody say some words on the logic used here???
Thanks in advance

I think I found something interesting that may help those who will try to help me...:D:D
As I said in my first post, my CVBS input is correctly shown when I'm using Dscaler.
I just opened Dscaler again and checked the "Sources" menu.
There I find two item pointing to my TV card:
1) Medion TV-Tuner 7134 MK2/3
2) 713x BDA Anal,og Capture (DShow)

If I select the first one I have a wonderfull playback, while selecting the second I get a wonderfull black screen
Since the name of the card that I see in TV-Server configuration (Analog 713x BDA Analog TV Tuner) is similar to the non working one, I'm starting to think that TV-Server is trying to use the directshow part of the driver which for some reason is not working.
I also gave a try with VLC which can manage to open the directshow device (called again 713x BDA Analog Capture) and I get a low quality black and white output of the CVBS signal.

Will continue to investigate... but whatever help is appreciated....
