In a previous version of MP there were various options that could be set up for analog recording. Now I'm not sure if this is only relevant to software encoding cards ( UserGuides/SW-Cards setup - MediaPortal Wiki Documentation ) but there were various options to change resolution, aspect ratio etc.
I'm experimenting with recording from a Freesat box using a hardware encoding card (HVR-1300). All recordings are 704 x 576 (5.1 mbps)
Now I know that the Scart output from my Freesat box is limited to PAL resolution, even when it's displaying 1080i on the HDMI output from BBC HD. What I was wondering is whether it's possible to change the recording resolution in MP to make use of the card's full recording capability (12.1mbps)?
The reason I am interested in this is that the standard definition output from the Freesat box on HD is definitely better than direct recording of the DVB-T signal on one of my digital cards. This is most noticeable when watching football - the DVB-T signal looks OK until the camera pans, and there are noticeable compression artefacts around players in wideangle views.
