I was wondering why most people prefer the 1.png, 2.png, 3.png... way of animating instead of useing GIFs?

I will be the first to admit I have NO idea about the skin engine side of Media Portal. Are PNG better quality and/or better optimised?

With GIFs the animation continues on indefinite. Things like the MP logo could continue to move while on the home page. White noise or "videos" could be displayed on TV icon screens.

Is there a way to repeat the animation?

The engine at present allows for looping animation now (I think. Someone correct me if I'm wrong)
