What does this require to run? It just crashes when I try to launch it.

Do you intent to run the MPTVClient executable from a network share?
If I try to run it from a network share it will crash too.
Running it from a local path will not crash, but the server connection is still not working: "Server connection is broken" error.

Nope, running from local disk.

Hmm, I moved the folder from my desktop to another folder and then it runs. But I too get the server connection is broken error.
