I recently got a Onkyo Amp (TX-SR303E)
and some nice JBL speakers (JBL Northridge E100's) and JBL subwoofer (JBL Northridge E150P).

Now I realize that I might not be getting the best sound with audio coming from my motherboard (Asus M2V-MX).
So im looking for a audiocard 100 euro or less :) that will get me the best result in 5.1 for DVD, DivX, and FullHD movies.

The M-Audio Revolution 5.1 (60 euro):

Looks interresting to me, but I do not know alot about PC audio so any suggestions would be very welcome.

    Hi ThaClown,

I use the M-Audio Revolution 5.1 and I'm quite happy with it.
This card can output different sample frequencies via the digital coax output.
This makes it possible to passthrough 44.1 kHz music as well as 48 kHz AC3/DTS to the digital input of your receiver.

The only problem I'm having with it is that the M-Audio ASIO driver gives no sound via the digital output only via analog, I switched to ASIO4ALL to solve this.
M-Audio is not very active as far as drivers are concerned. They just recently released a beta driver for Vista.
Luckilly I am still using XP :)

    Regards,

I just bought a different 7.1 card with optical out (was a nice offer, it can handle AC3 and DTS for 28 euro).
Now I want 5.1 DTS sound from my DVD's and HDDVD/Blueray downloads.

I use PowerDVD and here I know that I should select under speaker environment: 'Use SPDIF'.

But now I am not sure:
Am I correct to say that I need to go toAC3 filter settings also and selects under output: SPDIF and 3/2+SW 5.1 channels?
what is the SPDIF passthrou setting? should I use only DTS or also AC3?
And should I have the same settings in FFDshow audio?

Or should I in someway not use AC3 and FFDshow audio when playing DVD or FullHD files?

I want no encoding or changing of the audio singnal, my receiver should handle the DTS throu the optical cable...
    Any help would be nice.
