Anyone get MKV and Subtitles to work in RC3? (1 Viewer)

All my subs work for avi but cannot get them to work with mkv. I can use MPC (Media Player Classic) but I lose so much control over the remote control with it. (not the best mapper yet).

It would be so much nicer to simply use the internal player if MKV Subs could be shown.

Hope I am not missing something obvious but have scoured the forums to no avail.

I managed to get softsubs in .mkv files working by following this guide.

Just want to verify - either of you did this in RC3?? Cuz I have tried both suggestions and no such luck yet. When I enable the DirectVobSub, I even lose capability to play my .mkv files completely.

Im using RC3 and CCCP codec pack and it all seems to work great

Thats my setup as well - I am working on an XP Pro machine with CCCP installed. If I use MPC I can get the MKV subs but that is it. When I enable the Post Processing with DirectVobSub it just hangs my MKVs - I will play with it some more I guess.

Got it - Feel a little silly and newbish. First off - all it needed was a reboot - I guess I never did after installing VobSub, also - 1 of the movies I was testing, didn't have subs in it - go figure!!

BTW - for others reading - I used Tapins suggestion - not that the other isn't a good one, but Tapins worked for me - Thanked as well Tapin!!
