anyway to split large recordings in real-time? (1 Viewer)

Is there anyway to have MediaPortal split large recordings across multiple files, while recording? For instance I like to record NASCAR races, which at 5hours even on medium quality comes out to 12+gig. AT that size it seems FF/ RW dont work well and even playing outside of MP using WMP doesnt work very well.

I would like to be able to specify a size such as 5gig and have recordings auto-split. another option would be to specify timed records, such as 3hours starting at 1pm and then 3hours starting at 4pm

Have you tried different codecs or something, I recorded that Live Aid thing ages ago and that came in at a hefty 50gb or something. Didnt have any problems with playback on that.
