Arrow buttons double-press (3 Viewers)

I tried removing the replacement driver and reverting to the original eHome driver, this didn't change anything. From playing about some more with the timing it appears that by lowering the repeat delay I get more and more doubles. Even triples when I have it set very low. Either I have misunderstood the how the timings work or this is the issue. From how I understand it the repeat delay shouldn't make any difference to how commands are accepted until a button has been held long enough to cross the held delay.

Since it clearly is affecting it I wander if it can't be an issue in the algorithm that calculates if a button is being held and for how long. I don't know how your software calculates this but from my programming experience thats where I suspect something might be amiss. I'll try to think of a way of trying the remote out without the IR Server and see if the problem persists.

Try HIP or Girder, see if they do it too.

I've made yet another change to the way IR Server interacts with the MCE device so maybe the next version will fix this for you ...

I'll keep testing here to see if I can find anything ...

    Cheers,

I have installed HIP and I am not getting any double inputs. Hope that helps you in some way. I will absolutely be testing your new version when it comes out because although HIP has timing settings they don't have any effect here strangely. But for now it is a slightly better choice for me.

    Thanks!

    Hi zoee

I got exactly the same issue with the new version of the IR server suite from 2007-10-12. If I lower the "button held delay" under 250 I get double inputs every second keystroke. Hope Aaron can fix it, because I like the remote to be more responsive. Anyway the IR server suite is really great tool.

Can you both please check if you are handling the arrow buttons in the plugin?

If you are using the default driver (and haven't disabled HidIr) then you don't want the plugin to handle the arrow buttons or the ok button. They are handled automatically by HidIr.

This is the most common cause of repeated button presses.

    Hope that helps,

    Hi Aaron

Thanks for your reply. Actully I have disabled HidIr to controll all keys on the remote by IR server. As long as the "button held delay" is equal or above 250 everything works fine. With lower values I get the double input every second time. Any ideas?

    Regards Oliver

The receiver must be reporting multiple presses or repeat codes. What remote are you using?

    The original MCE Remote?

I am using the standard mce remote:

    - Remote control and receiver 1.0A for
    - Media Center PC with Windows
    - USB Compatible Model: 1040

Will it help you to upload the logs?

I was getting double key presses also, but I realized I had the MCE replacement plugin enabled in MediaPortal while also using the IR server suite. Disabled the mce replacement plugin, rebooted, and everything was fine again.
