Artist thumbnails - how do they work?! (1 Viewer)

I must say that I love the MP feature of downloading a photo of the artist or band. This makes browsing by artist->album very slick looking!

However, I don't understand how this feature works! I don't see any settings associated with it in MP setup.

Specifically, when I have a new artist in my database (without an artist/band)photo yet), how do I get the photo? It just seems to magically appear when I play that new artist's music. There doesn't seem to be anything I can do manually to grab photos when I have a large number of new artists without photos.

Also, right now I have a few new artists and even when I play their music, a photo does not "magically appear" as in the past. One of these artists (John Lennon) is obviously well known so the problem may be that I need to turn on a setting. Another artist (Califone) is not so well known so perhaps the problem is that the magic online database that MP is grabbing photos from does not have a photo of the artist. I could find a photo myself but I don't know where to put it...

Also, there are some artist photos that I would prefer to change to a different/better photo. Is this possible?

You can place/replace your Photos into the following directory, under Program Files:

"Team MediaPortal/MediaPortal/Thumbs/Music/Artists"

Now, does anyone know why a well known artist like John Lennon is not updating automatically? Is there a setting that I have accidentally turned off or changed?

The artist is updated, when you go to "No Playing" while playing the song.

Yes, normally I find that the artist is updated when I go to "now playing". But it seems this is not working right now...I only have 2 examples currently, John Lennon and Califone. Surely John Lennon cannot be missing from the online database?

Also, is there a way to update a large number of new artist thumbnails? For example, if I add 25 new artist folders to my collection, is there a way to update the artist thumbnails all at once rather than go to "now playing" for all 25 artists?
