I've posted following message under General Support sometime ago:
I'm running XP 800x600 mode on a 16:9 plasma TV via VGA-input. I managed to set up TV and video to stretch to the right ratio. But my slideshow is still wrong :-(

Since I didn't receive any response I wish that there would be a new feature for solving this.

thanks

Well... i had a similar problem... and i set Windows to 848x480 resolution for my plasma, which is a true Widerscreen resolution.

Try setting it to that, since all things will work properly with the aspect ratio (like the Web browser and WS skins) and tell us if it worked.

This imho shouldn't be posted in Feature Requests?

Thank you for your suggestion. Sure, changing Windows resolution is the perfect solution. I'll change to the right ratio for everything in one go. That's also the reason I've posted my question somewhere else a month ago:

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the right resolution in my settings.
Now, I know that there's a resolution 848x480. Maybe I need to check for the latest graphic card driver :)

thanks

It's a non-standard resolution.. that's why it's a bit hidden :)

Try going on Control Panel -> Display -> Settings (tab) -> Advanced
Then go to the "Adapter" tab, click on "List all Modes" and then select "848 by 480, 32bit Colors, 60hz"

that should fix it for you...
There is also a way to add the resolution to the windows standard list with Powerstrip, but if this works for you then there is no need to make things complicated..

I hope your Plasmas were not too expensive people. So that you can sell them soon.

Even when they were not obsolete tech (like they are going to be soon), I cound't convince myself to go buy a device with such easy burn-in, so small life (because when they talk about thousands of hours, that doesn't mean that deterioration doesn't start sooner - it's just some thousands of hours before it goes below some preset specs) and worse of all have a stupid 4:3 low-res on a... 16:9 screen (i.e. wide pixels not square).

(sorry for the no-contribution post - except maybe the contribution that this post can be to people THINKING of buying plasma today)

Yeah, that's where I found it. Thank you for your details anyway.
BUT... my plasma said 'not supported' :-(
LUCKILY, when I tried 960x600 it's okay. Although it's not 16:9 it comes very close. Of course, it doesn't make much sense to use 960 on my 800 resolution. But at least now, everything appears in (almost) correct aspect ratio.

thank you for all the tips
