Lately I have some serious problems playing ordinary mpeg2 avi files inside MP. The main problem is that the audio is way out of sync and the video stutters and thereby gets more and more behind the sound as the clip progresses. Playing with any player outside MP isn't an issues and there all media is played flawlessly with sound always in sync. When played outside MP a get the following message though "The color scheme has been changed to vista basic". Is that a sign of a problem with my basic settings are is it okay? (this message has started to show after I tried to fix the primary problem by uninstalling the k-lite codec pack)

I have never had an issue playing avi files inside MP before, but it suddenly started last week after playing around with the video settings for my ATI Radeon X1200 video card. As far as I remember the only thing I did was changing the refresh rate from 60 Hz to 50 Hz. However when switching back to 60 Hz the async just gets even worse, so my current settings are:

    Resolution: 1920x1080
    Color quality: High (32 bit)
    Refresh rate: 50 Hz
    Overscan: 0%
    Picture scan: Just scan

An example of a file I have trouble with:
    Date rate: 16kbps
    Total bitrate: 144 kbps
    Frame rate: 23 frames/sec.

I have tried any codec on my machine and have installed SAF 3.47 without getting better performance. I have tried to uninstall MP and reinstall a clean MP 1.0.2.0 - but the problem remains.

Do you guys have any ideas? If the problems get solved I would be extremely grateful since the issue is very frustrating and I have spent hours tried to fix it. Please let me know if you need more information.

    HURRAY!

I enabled Video Mixing Renderer 9 (VMR9) in the configuration (DirectShow Filter Control -> Video Renderer Settings) and deselected EVR, and choosed hardware acceleration for MPEG-2 Videos. And the video is smooth as intended. I'm quite surprised that this combi is the best selection for my Vista setup, but apparently it is.

I'll close the thread if things are back to normal for a longer periode.
