Newbie here, and I need some help. Just recently installed Media Portal and am loving it. I use it mainly for my music collection right now, but would like to use the TV features as well. The only problem is that MP does not recognize my tuner card. The card is an ATI Radeon 8500dv and I am running Windows 2000. I have upgraded to the latest driver for my card and it still is not working. I have searched the forum and have been unable to find a solution. If anyone has any tips on how to get this up and running it would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
PT

Bummer. Thanks for the response Flip. I know that Win 2K is not supported, but everything seems to be running pretty well (outside of slow startup and setup) with the latest MP. I do have one more question, though. I noticed that you are using a Radeon 8500. Does your tuner work? Just curious.

    Hi,

mine 8500 is not a All in Wonder. So it has no TV tuner. ;)

Therefore I am using the PVR 150 and 350.

    Flip.

Thanks again Flip. Still a bummer. On to another hardware question from the newbie. I have an Audigy 2 ZS sound card (like yourself) and have not been able to get 5.1 surround from my speakers while playing movies (5.1 speaker system). Is there a trick to this? What audio decoder should be used for this? I can post more info about my setup if needed. Thanks again,

    Hi,

sorry cannot help you there (much), because I do not have a 5.1 speaker system (currently saving money for it ;)).

Depends on the file types I guess.

For MPEG / DVD / TV you can set the Audio Decoder in MP. You have to change the output settings of these Decoders. Eg. for DScaler and MPEG/DTS/AC3 in Configure->Decoder Filters-><Filter>->Output to Speakers.

For AVIs it is often a AC3-stream played through AC3 filter or ffdshow. So you have to check the Audio settings of these filters.

    HTH,
    Flip.
