Just wondering if (Like MCE) an analogue tv tuner has to be installed before the HD tuner will be recognized. I know there is a workaround via the KRAM drivers for MCE, but is it necessary in media portal. Don't want to have to buy an analogue if I don't have to. Thx for the input.

No, you HD card should work fine provided its supported.
