Ok, I understand why going to HW encoding cards is better...BUT I think supporting some of the more popular SW encoding cards should still be an option. I have a TV Wonder VE and was disappointed that RC4 removed support...I went and tried RC2 and it detected my card no problem.

So the question is, what files can I nab from RC2 to make RC4 see my card? (although, in the capturecard.xml file for RC4 it still lists ATI TV Wonder, so not sure why it wouldn't still detect my VE version).

Has anyone else gotten the TV Wonder/ TVW ve (not Pro) SW card working on RC4 and if so, what did you do to get it to work?

Basic things like a MediPortal.log would be good...

    I have a simialr request.

I was using the generic sofware encoder from RC1 for my anolouge winfast 2000XP card, now I have upgraded to RC4 MP actually recongnises my card but it doesn't work as well. I sometimes get error about not being able to get the graph for the card and when it does work the quality is way down, I suspect because it is now writing to a dvr_ms file instead of an AVI....... I would be happy to revert to RC1 but I will never be able to upgrade, I would prefer to have a fix or change or patch I could apply to allow use of the generic software encoder card as in RC1?

    Cheers

You wont be able to, all the cards have to use the microsoft sb engine. Feature wise and simplicity (rather than having software cards 'tacked on') its a better move, and software cards have always had high system requirements.
