Hello everyone,

after a researching a while, I start to think there is now way to get AtmoLight work well with original non-ripped and copy-protected BluRays or HD DVDs.

I for myself use TotalMediaTheatre from ArcSoft to play Blu Rays and HD DVD and that is working fairly well.
For AtmoLight I am using AtmoWin and the Mediaportal plugin from gemx. Btw, thank you very much for the plugin. I got it up and running pretty fast and all my mediaportal media runs well with AtmoLight now!

However, whenever I jump off from Mediaportal (via another Plugin... "" ) to start TMT to watch Blu Rays or HD DVDs AtmoLight isn't working anymore.
VLC-Player seems the only one that supports via plugin/filter AtmoLight. However VLC doesn't play copy-protected discs.

In short: I believe many of us (the mediaportal community) face the same problem. And because I could find any solution, I started a post within the Arcsoft forum to see if there is any chance for ArcSoft to allow external plugins or even direct AtmoLight support - such as Videolan's VLC Player.

Anyone interested in the same feature, feel free to join the discussion here or regarding TMT at the ArcSoft forum:
https://ssl.arcsoft.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=7129&title=feature-request-atmolightsupport

For anyone who has a solution to my problem: PLEASE tell me and post it here. That would be much easier than getting a comercial product listen to open source community.

I believe it's really annoying to have all my TV recordings and AVI (etc.)-Files use AtmoLight. And whenever I want to watch real neat HD via bluray or hd dvd, i don't have any AtmoLight.

I'm awaiting your responses/help!!!

Best,
HeimKinoFan

Afaik no commercial BD/HD-DVD Player supports Atmowin at this time/anymore.
Simple reason ist: Atmowin takes screenshots for the analysis, and if you could take screenshots from protected BDs/HD-DVDs the protection would be useless.

For BDs the "BluRay Handler" Plugin in Mediaportal is a "workaround", but for HD-DVDs there is afaik no solution.
(no player which supports playback of splitted .evo files as one file (called seamless branching?)).

Since im am using a 64 channel Atmolight myslf and i am currently "tuning" the Arcsoft Player Plugin, i wanted to add the Option of a "static color" setup in the Arcsoft Player Plugin Option. That's better than darkness :/

AW: AtmoLight & BluRay/HD DVD

Afaik no commercial BD/HD-DVD Player supports Atmowin at this time/anymore.
That's what I thought.

Atmowin takes screenshots for the analysis, and if you could take screenshots from protected BDs/HD-DVDs the protection would be useless.

I would not expect AtmoWin to need the full resolution of the HD-image. The AtmoLight plugin of gemx scales down the image for performance boost as well. Which ist pretty clever, I think.
I assume the legal and copyright issues would not matter that much if the picture sent to AtmoWin is a "really low resolution" picture that would not be worth copying for anyone. I might be wrong about this though. No idea.

Also, the comercial software may do the image analysis itself and then just send the result for each channel directly to the COM-Port/hardware. However, I would assume, this would be too much work for just too few people wanting that. Also, because AtmoWin is an open source initiative.

Anyone else intrerested in this issue?
I'm looking forward to any response! ;)
