Hey all,

I was having problems with my XFX NVTV card and MP RC3 all I would get was a grey window where TV was supposed to be, and then after a while it would cut out, after some investigation I found the card was being detected as an InnoDV 3300 by MP so I had a look and got the drivers for this card, installed them on to my HTPC (MCE 2005) and hey presto TV seems to be working fine now! :)
I haven't been able to confirm if the card is still working under the MediaCenter 2005 front end, as i'm not at home now.
If anyone has been having problems with the grey screen try installing these drivers and see how it goes.

Hi,

Very interesting. I have the point of view nvtn card, and it is also recognized as a inno tv card. I'm using RC2, as I saw you all had problem of grey image with rc3, and it is working ok. I will try RC3 tomorrow to see if I experience the same pb.

    Hi,

I tried your solution and it is working!

    So, my pov nvtv is:

    * WORKING with nvtv 1.20.45 AND forceware multimedia in MCE 2005 AND MP RC2 (if I don't install FWM, MCE does not work >> seems that some codecs are missing)

    * NOT WORKING anymore with nvtv 1.20.45 AND forceware multimedia in MCE 2005 nor MP RC3 as soon as I install MP RC3>> I get a grey image with both frontends

    * WORKING again if I "reinstall" nvtv driver using innoDV 3300 driver thankfully found by swifty, in MP RC3 AND MCE 2005

This is only observation, I don't know why it works nor the difference between driver nor the difference in RC2 and RC3 coping with the NVTV driver.

Grey image seems to happens to some others too, so it is probably a problem from MP side.

Thank you again swifty and also dman_lfc, as you seem to be the one that ported nvtv cards in MP. This card is actually very interesting because video is hardware coded, but also it is a very inexpensive card now found for about 25euros! I just bought 1 week ago it because I saw it was supported by MP and I was a bit afraid following the grey image... luckily sorted out now!

I have investigated the problem further (posted in Bugs topic) and found the problem to be dvxplore.sys, you might want to try using the 1.20.45 drivers and just copy the dvxplore.sys file from the 1.20.19's into WindowsDir\System32\Drivers and that should fix the grey screen problem.

    DMAN:
InnoDV lists the 1.20.45 drivers as being for the DV3400 chip, and MP detects our cards as the DV3300, maybe this is why we are having problems. Strangely though, the 1.20.45 drivers work fine under the Windows MCE frontend :?

I think MP RC3 is changing something because the installation of RC3 causes grey image, both in MP and MCE in my case.

if I use RC2 (clean install, without RC3) everything fine.

    I'll try dvexplore.sys replacement.

I noticed that too, but only if I'd tried MP and hadn't rebooted - if I launched MCE straight after a reboot it would work ok until running MP, then I'd get grey screen in both.
