Since some days you can read on most hardware sites about creative and how they want to stop someone to do
    mod drivers for their soundcards.
What i have read those drivers enable DolbyDigitalLive for Audigy and XiFi soundcards.
As you can get used audigy cards realy cheap this would be a nice way to get DDL for a htpc.
Has anyone tested the driver jet? I wanted to do it myself but my audigy is broken.
Would love to have DDL... change volume for everything via remote e.g.

Dont know if these are the drivers i am talking about, have to check the page a bit more.
The one i am talking of is the daniel_k driver.
Could live with xp only as i am using xp. Guess i have to buy a new audigy and test it myself.
If it is not working then i can use it in my normal pc.
Dont know, maybe i will give it a try.

Yes using them now, great to get some gaming features back.

Also read the daniel_k story (google for info), whoops Creative, just think you shot yourself in the foot.

Nice to get EQ back, but i would say for general htpc use, not much improvement unless you want some auditorium effects.

Dolby etc can be had with the likes of PowerDVD7 as a codec anyway, do not notice any difference processor wise between supposedly HW use of DTS or software version.

No clear instruction on setup with the download but a driver needs to be installed prior to running ISO, which is the opposite from i have found on the creative forum, which suggest iso\cd install, then the patch supplied by daniel k.

Also gave me a chance to test onboard ALC850 Realtek (never tried it) sound against the Audigy, sounds very weak in comparison on normal settings (did adjust), but just loved the auto detect feature, vote definately goes to a soundcard rather than onboard though.

First of all thank you for the reply.
I read the story and i think a lot of people dislike creative after this behavior. Even they might have to do so.
    (Dolby License Issues or whatever)
Anyway, intresting to hear that there are some features working now.
What i did not find in you report is the mentioned dolby digital live feature.
I thought it would be included ( realtime DD encoding ). This way, let the codec decode it to 6 channels and let the audigy encode it again to DD, you should be able to control the volume for every sound source.
Since you did not mention it i guess it is not implemented - if it is you can correct me. ;)
Think i will buy an audigy anyway for my standard pc and then maybe will give it a try with my htpc.
Till now i am using the mentioned realtek onboard sound and could live with the sound quality, DD/DTS is
passed to a reciever so there should be no loss.
