Hi jjsr, I've meanwhile found the manual of your cat cs-907 and even an image of the back of your receiver. It has a standard SP/DIF optical connection and according to the manual should be able to run DTS and Dolby surround. Often, to have the SP/DIF output of a motherboard do exacly what needs to be done it is a matter of having the correct drivers. I know there are adaptors that create optical out by just putting them in a jack outlet of a PC. These adapters can only work if the motherboard is able to do something in that particular jack, and thus success is not guaranteed. So my question is: does your current mainboard have a connection that can fit an SP/Dif lead like this one ? If not you have 3 options that will certainly work: 1) disable your onboard audio and buy a good audio card that fits your mainboard 2) use a usb-device like this one (this is comparable to your option 3) 3) change your motherboard (changing a motherboard means that you have to make sure the form factor for memory, disks, processor and extension cards is identical) If I were you I would go for option 1). On the German market you can find PCIe cards for less than €35 and PCI card for even less. An asus xonar dg pci 5.1, just as an example, is available for as little as € 25.
