Having tried many systems, I'm now using MP2. Whilst I appreciate that this is still Alpha software, there are a couple of issues I'm having that I'm pretty sure are just user error.

1) When playing music (probably WMA), it plays for 8 seconds then skips to the next track. Have I got it stuck in scan mode or something?
2) Even with 10AE Update 1, I cannot delete any recorded TV from within the interface. The only item on the actions list is "Mark Unwatched".
3) OnlineVideos isn't listed as an option on the home screen. I thought that was built-in these days, or am I getting confused with MP1?
4) Is there a home screen editor for Titanium as there was for Titan in MP1?
5) A "Playlists" option appears at the bottom of every config screen and the home screen, however I can't find a way of using my existing WPL playlists?
6) Is there a way of listing offline movies (DVD's & Blurays) in the Movies section? I've moved from MyMovies for WMC which had that ability.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

PS. For what it's worth, this is the summation of my experience with various alternatives:
  • WMC + MyMovies + ArcSoft TMT - Used from XP MCE to W7. Nice if aging UI and very reliable, but the lack of client/server architecture is an issue when using multiple HTPCs, even with WHS2011, and format support is poor.
  • Plex - No TV Recording facility. Not the best UI.
  • XBMC + Argus - Nice but the best skins (Aeon Nox?) can be quite confusing to navigate using a remote. Lack of series recording facility from within the UI.
  • MP1 + Argus - Excellent, but again the lack of client/server architecture causes problems with multiple HTPCs all indexing music, pictures, TV, movies individually. MPExtended for AMPDroid works on the client not the server? Lots of incompatibilities between plugins and skins.
  • MP2 + SlimTV Native - Got the right architecture, the most promising solution yet but obviously still a work in progress.

I'll try to answer some of your questions:
    1) we are using the BassPlayer for audio playback. Maybe it has issues with wma? Where is you file stored: on the system that plays back the file, on the server or on a NAS?
    2) delete support is currently limited to files on local system and NAS shares. if you have your media source created on server as "global media source" on a server hdd, it won't allow deletion from other clients. But if you use a windows share, it works.
    3) OV2 is developed outside MP2 repository and only included in public releases. You can download a version from MP home page / plugins for MP2. Or you wait about one week for new release.
    4) Not yet and also not planned. There is another skin in progress, which has a customizable layout (see ApolloOne thread)
    5) That playlist menu item appears everywhere is intended.I thought there was some tool for Playlist import, have to check this...
    6) offline files are not yet supported, but planned

The "tools" plugin (available on home screen) allows you to import ".m3u" playlists. I have never used it myself, but you might give it a try. But I'm afraid you first have to convert WPL to M3U.

Apologies, forgot to say thanks. I've switched back to MP1 as MP2 is sadly not quite there in terms of Wife and Kids support. It's amazing how a few missed recordings can cause so much grief! However I think it is the product of the future so I will be watching development closely.

    Many thanks for the reply!

Do I Need to configure it as a Client or Server source? I tried it with UNC Path as a Server source but still can't delete recordings. Is there an easy way to configure this global?

You should generally use "Global sources", then they are managed by the Server and are available to all other Clients.

Local sources are needed for Clients which have their own media stored on local disk. This media is only available as long as this Client is online.

Deleting items is (should be ;)) possible for network path (UNC) and for media sources on the current PC (Local filesystem accessor).

Just checked it with the new Version - recording is configured as global media share with unc path - but delete Option is not available.
