The only solution I could find was to completely remove the plugin, everything went back to working fine then. I could boot MP from the tray with my remote and audio and video worked every time.Bit gutted as I am a massive fan of the Showtimes plugin but removing it was the lesser of two evils. Not sure if this is solely the Showtimes plugin (as other people must have received the same problem) or a conflict between the combination of plugins I have?
