Audio sync problem when playing .mkv (1 Viewer)

Searched the forum, but couldn't find the exact answer.

I have a Asus P5QL Pro Mobo with 4 GB memory, Ati HD3870 (512 MB) and a SB Xfi Titanium. I have my PC connected to my television with a HDMI cable. The SB Xfi is connected through an optical cable with my Harman Kardon AVR-135.

Problem is that the further a movie has been played, the further the audio get outs of sync. In the beginnen the sync is just little of but at the end it is way off. Never had any problem with playing Blu-ray, H264, MKV, etc etc when using KMplayer, Totalmedia, Windows Mediaplayer and other programs.

I tried al different encoder (WM decoder, ATI MPEG Decoder, Cyberlink H.264 decoder etc. Even tried all audio coding, like AC3filter, FFdshow, WM Audio decoder, etc etc. But whatever i try the audi gets out of sync. I have downloaded the latest version of MediaPortal, but not the Beta RC4.

Is there anything i could adjust to get the sync right. I love the program and its so easy to use with a great skin!

One little other question...is it possible to let Mediaportal startup in 1920 x 1080 resolution? I made a shortcut on my keypad with Ati Catalyst, but i'd prefer Mediaportal itself to change the resolution. Thanks for the answers!

Hi,

This is typical for a codec issue. However without full logs posted there is nobody out here who is able to help you. You do not even specify your OS (Win7 could override your setup codecs) and it is not clear if you are using 1.1.0RC3 or 1.0.2.

Regarding resolution: set your Windows to 1920x1080 and MP will launch video with that resolution.

Hi,
I have same prblem on play MKV (only), It working good on all format except MKV, the video will have sudden speed up or Slow down (random happen). And the Audio is lagging.

My system: Atom 330
OS: WinXP
MP : 1.0.2
SAF: 4.0

Can I know how can I generate the log file ?

Please upgrade to 1.1.0 RC5 or wait a few weeks for the final 1.1.0. The drifting audio (instead of dropping a frame to keep audio and video in sync) was a bug in 1.0.2.

Dear All,
As I have replaced my Denon DVD with Toshiba (Denon died) and added also a streamer (all connected to the AVR thru the optical port and also directly to the LCD with HDMI- same as it was with the Denon) I found that there is a slight delay in sound that is not syncronized with the picture especially with MKV files, but not only. what can be the reason and how do solve it?

Is it possible to have an audio adjusting control like the one in XBMC to fix the audio sync problems. It would be a real boon for videos with sound problems.

the audio sync problem had already solve after I upgrade to MP1.1.1
The old MP1.0.2 can't play the 720P video smoothly.

Some movies are encoded badly with the sound out of sync. XBMC has a slider control to adjust the sound with the picture. Media Portal 1.1.x has a slider called AV Delay but it doesn't do anything.
