Audio with video when minimised, but not in fullscreen? (1 Viewer)

Hi, sorry if I sound a bit confused (I am) but why is it that I can watch and hear my videos when mediaportal is windowed, but the sound is muted when I change to fullscreen?

I am using the fddshow audio (and video) decoder and the audio renderer is set to "Default WaveOut device"

I should also note that this problem only arrose when I stopped playing one avi video and started playing another (with the same attributes) in fullscreen mode. The first played perfectly.

Should be default device, also check Wave out is not muted in your sound settings (changes when fullscreen as directx kicks in)

Funnily enough, I just decided to give it one last go before uninstalling. It again played the first video fine (this time in fullscreen), but the second had no sound. No combination of settings managed to get the audio back.

I've heard nothing but good things about MP and I even built a new PC last week hoping to get this running on it but I've had nothing but trouble with it so far. Should I persevere? Should I wait 2-3 minutes for MP to launch after every video I watch just so I can hear the audio track on the next one, or just use a standalone media player app and do without the hastle?

I must admit that I'm reluctant to give up on MP so easily, as it seems to be a great piece of kit when functional, but really, am I the only person to encounter this problem and can no-one suggest a fix?

I have tried several different things such as playing a video in windowed mode then switching to fullscreen mid-video and this is fine if it is the first video I have played, but if not then the sound is muted as soon as I go into fullscreen. I can watch videos with sound only in windowed mode, but can listen to my music in either windowed or fullscreen.

I just looked in the error log to see this:

Sorry to keep replying to my own posts, but I decided to uninstall and reinstall in the hope that maybe my problems would be solved. They weren't.

I've added the log file as an attachment this time as I was not sure how to do so originally.

Well, thanks for the help guys (is there a sarcasm smiley somewhere that I'm missing?), but I have found my own solution: Unselect "Use exclusive mode" in the video renderer settings (which appears to be MP's version of "switch it off and then back on again", judging by amount of times that solution crops up in the other threads here).

Hope that helps anyone else who may encounter this problem - I can't be the only one, can I?

Its there to stop tearing in the video picture, why its affecting sound, I have no idea, as long as default direct sound device is selected, should work fine.

Sorry no XP install to test against, but as you can tell from the age of this post, not a common problem.
