Aussie users - best remote option? (1 Viewer)

Hi all Aussie users,

I'm using a Leadtek remote that came with my TV cards, but recent driver updates appear to have caused problems with keys on the remote, so currently I've just got all these confusing mappings which are the only buttons that work.

I'd like to get a different remote, mainly so that the mappings are consistent but also so that I can use the remote to wake the PC from sleep (can't do that with the Leadtek remote).

What are you using for a remote? And where did you get it from? I'm keen to at least buy a remote from an Australian retailer or web-site, rather than getting one from overseas which could potentially have no warranty/support.

Cheers,
Craig

Gday mate, not sure if this will help but I'm using Avermedia DVB-T Hybrid x 2 that work fine. The remote come with the package and I
just used RM-HV setup files to configure.

If you need one let me know

I've tried a bunch - IMHO the Microsoft MCE remote is the best combination of price/bounce(i have kids)/function :)

(although if you want upmarket the Logitec Harmony remotes are better again).

I have a few different remotes that all work great. I have a microsoft MCE remote but they are getting hard to get. I also have one of these in the bedroom.

REMOTE-RC126 : AIM Windows Media Centre Remote Control Kit USB Receiver Supports Vista (Home Premium and Ultimate) Windows 7 Media Centre : Bargain @ ddcomputer com au

It works out of the box and the usb pickup also works with the harmony remote we use in the lounge room. (We have mediaportal in 5 different rooms.)

A friend at work has one of these and says it is also very good.

    +1 for MCE remote.
    +1 for the Logitec.
I had Leadtek remote failing to wake my PC from sleep as well, no matter what I tried. Simillar problem not waking PC using some other cheap MCE immitattions found on eBay and elsewhere, so don't go this way as well.
The only remote free of any problems I found and use is the genuine MCE one. If you have more then one device to control (for example TV :D and AV receiver) go for Logitec, I can almost guarantee you will never look back. They are simply excellent.

P.S. Small addition to the Logitec remote. To have full functionality including waking up your PC after standby you still have to have MCE remote IR receiver plugged in to your PC USB port which maintains +5V power during sleep mode.

I used a Logitech Harmony universal. I have the MCE remote/receiver. I sometimes use that remote as a backup. I bought them both locally. I don't remember where but I know they're not that hard to find.
