I have donated to the MediaPortal project as it is a great system and works well in most situations, particularly in the TV watching and recording area.

However, I'm experiencing several issues with audio CD's. My wife (& I) want to be able to play music CD's during the day without having to switch on the TV.

I have "Auto Play Always" selected. When some CD's are inserted, MP displays a IMDB window with 2 or more possible album options. Presumeably like a CDDB lookup. Is it possible to have it select the first one by default so play can start. Or even better, have play start and then ask for this information as optional? This would seem the more logical thing to do. Perhaps I should post this as a suggestion to the music forum?

Another issue, if I'm playing a music CD without the TV on, and I switch on the TV, play stops! I find that very strange and annoying. The TV is connected via HDMI. How can I stop this from happening?

When the TV is on, is it possible to have MP display the current playlist when it auto plays a music CD? I have the option to "Always show current playlist" when manually starting a CD, but this doesn't happen when auto playing.

I also have some MP3 CD's which I've created for my wife, but when these are inserted, they do not auto-play. A prompt appears with "Audio CD Inserted - Do you wish to open it?" I guess there is no option currently to make these auto play.

I'm trying to make this new HTPC work as simply and intuitively as the old DVD recorder/player it replaced, which did all this with no hassles. Particularly for the family members, and the animal minders we get in while away on holidays.

    Any help most appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Ross.

This behavior is a design issue with MP code. When tv is turned on the display adapter enables the HDMI/DVI signal and that is causing directx device lost event. For Vista users we might have a workaround to the design issue soon that will fix this behavior (not sure yet will it happen in 1.0 or 1.0.1).
