Any chance of incorporating an Auto SVN updater?

    something along the lines of:
    - Checking the latest SVN release info and files
    - Compare to the current version running
    - Download and implement the updated files
    - Restart if necessary...

    Viola! :D

I have no idea if this is posible though - devs??

it's been suggested before, but has been pointed out that there is a lot of band width involved and the adds that are displayed on the download pages just barely cover the costs. An auto system would take that revenue away.

    Hi,
This auto-updater isn't a good idea, one of the reason i have it's that SVN for time to time it's VERY broken & users will moan high & heavily on forum when this happens, sometimes it takes weeks to fix that & then especially when new stuff it's introduced.

SVN it's for testing purpose & of course have bugs fixed in it(thats why we sometimes recommend users which reports bugs or problem to use it), we as testers usually download & install, but not every SVN it's tested when they are "baked" @ night many of us are in bed...... & that can make very nasty outcome to end-users & would not be fun @ all.

SVN will NEVER be the same as a release, that has been tested & looked over & when installed clean shouldn't cause any harm to the system.

SVN should be downloaded by they that need it or a curious about new stuff, but then from a page with lots of description like it is today ;)

    Regards
    Roy
