Automatic PAL/NTSC Switching? (1 Viewer)

I am looking for help on ways to have automatic switching of output refresh rate, depending on the frame rate of the file being played.

My TV fully supports both 60 and 50Hz input.
But having to manually change the output refresh rate when I play European vs. US DVDs is driving me nuts!

Any hints of how to do this automatically, or at least semi-automatically?

That would be nice indeed. I use PowerStrip in combination with a VGA to RGB scart cable, hooked up to my 32" widescreen CRT. Since most of the material I play is PAL, I keep the refresh rate fixed at 25Hz Interlaced. Some way of automatically switching PowerStrip profile for NTSC material would mean a much more 'stable' picture. You could use ReClcok to adjust the speed of NTSC material, but that doesn't work very well with AC3 sound.

I too use ReClock, but compensating 60 to 50Hz seems to be asking too much, even for ReClock.

I guess an intermediate solution might be to somehow bind a remote control button to switching PowerStrip profiles.

But completely automatic would of course be preferable.

To bad that my Dell pc lcd monitor will only do 60Hz. It will do 50Hz in all other modes than innative 1:1 pixel so I guess the scaler will do rate conversion as well when it is activated.

Nearly no reviews of LCD/Plasme tv sets focus on 1:1 pixel without scaling/overscan, let alone testing 24/25/30 Hz multiples native frame reate...
