    Hi everyone,

I am currently storing my movies on a local harddisk and one remote target (Windows Home Server). If I want to play the movies on the remote target, I have to start it up manually at the moment.

Isn't it possible to automatically wake on LAN the server e.g. if MovingPictures accesses the remote target to play

    1) show a dialogue if MovingPictures should start the remote server
    2) starts the server (WOL-packet to server)
    3) in a perfect world: also force the server to standby afterwards :D

Maybe someone could come up with a solution, I think this would be not only helpful to me!

Btw: Saw this solution http://code.google.com/p/wol-powermanager/ maybe this could be helpful!

    Thanks :D

    Best regards

Wol-Powermanager is what you want to go with. Addtionally you should check the cmd feature together with lightsout. It will let you send the whs to sleep when go back to home or enter tv...

And about wol on win 8: It depends on your nic's driver if you will have to disable fast boot or not. Realtek's win8 driver is doing fine with resuming from S4 hybrid.

    Hi flint,

yes, this is well known and well loved :)) the request from the ts goes further. He (and a lot of other people like me) need some more functionality like powering up the whs only when you need it from within mp. And also let it go to sleep when you e.g. watch tv.

With wol-powermanager together with the lo console you can do that.
