Hello,
I have a recurring problem that may be a hardware issue, I'm hoping someone here has seen it before so I can be sure.
When I scan for channels for my TV card (Hauppage PVR 150MCE), I get random strings in the "name" field for several channels. If I clear channels and do it again, I get a different set of random strings, sometimes for different channels.
For example, the most recent attempt produced the following: Channel 2 Name *Y; Channel 3 Name (; Channel 4 Name %x|-)KG[; Channel 6 Name 6; Channel 7 Name 7... All the rest have the proper number as channel name like 6 and 7. In the past I have ignored this problem, but I'm trying to use an EPG now and it seems to be having trouble with these channel names.
I suspect that it has to do with signal quality. My tuner card has always been a problem; the low channels (about 2-7) are very low picture quality even though the cable produces a decent image through a regular TV. When I bought it, I saw on the Hauppauge forums that low channel quality was a known bug, but I decided to deal with it.
Could this signal quality issue be causing the autotune to misread channel name? Is there a way to manually adjust this within MP?
Thanks for any help, system specs below.
