The first thing that I do is a Ghost image of the partition, so I can start from scratch quickly if needed. Then I install in this order: Windows Media Player 10 Windows Update critical patches Recommended Windows patches (there is a thread listing them) Codecs: DivX 5.2.1 and Xvid 1.0.3 MBM (to monitor system status) Media Portal 0.2.0.0 Latest stable update, at the moment 0.2.0.4 If memory serves, that's all. With this installed I set up MP to my liking. Once everything is ready, including EPG, TV logos, plugins and TV Channels, I do another Ghost image.
