I have MP1.7 and the latest MovPic installed, however I have identified a problem .

My Movies are on a different server but without any access restrictions.

After MP starts the MovPic Background media info update process starts and sends the Gig network card to 75% utilisation for 8 minutes, as soon as the usage drops back to normal, I check the MovingPictures log and see that the process has completed.

The problem is that trying to view a movie whilst this is going on is not possible, if you play the movie it just hangs until the scan is complete, I may be wrong but I believe there is a full screen media play announcement and the Moving Pictures (or at least my installation of it) is not recognising it.

    Any help gratefully received

You appear to have a ton of entries in your database of movies that lack an IMDb tt-ID, so the artwork nodes are going crazy trying to find missing images. If you manually add a cover via MovPic config these background tasks will stop, which should hopefully clear up your problem. Also check into your LAN driver/BIOS, as I have seen many bad configurations that have excessive CPU usage for the LAN driver, especially certain RealTek drivers are notorious. Be sure to download the latest driver from the manufactor website and do not rely on WHQL ones.

Ok, but it has downloaded info and covers for 99% of the films, if it has done this why is there no IMDB id? Where is the id stored? How do I enter an ID?

    Thanks

Open MovPic config, and go through each movie and look for the IMDb tt-ID and locate the missing ones. If you are handy with SQLite then there are much easier ways by looking at the database direct, and perhaps some of the new MovPic search options help. You can also create a category filter to get the list.

Send the movie back to the importer or refresh it to get the ID, if that fails post back what movie it is.

I've been through every entry and all the ones can have an IMDB nWo do have one, I have around 10 films that just don't have a number. Every movie has cover art. But the problem persists. I have checked the Network card and its a NVidia with the latest drivers. Can you provide any other guidance?

thanks[DOUBLEPOST=1398429247][/DOUBLEPOST]Update: problem appears to be solved, I noticed that it was erroring on a line.

25-Apr-2014 13:00:30 Info [ FileSyncProcess]: File maintenance finished. (6.5 seconds)
    25-Apr-2014 13:08:06 Info [ MediaInfoWrapper]: Scanning bluray structure: \\freenas\films\films_volume_1\full disc\pirates 4\bdmv\STREAM\00125.m2ts
25-Apr-2014 13:08:12 Debug [ BDInfo]: Stream File Scan Error

if you look further back in the log you see
    25-Apr-2014 12:59:00 Debug [ DBLocalMedia]: Updating media info for '\\FREENAS\Films\Films_Volume_1\Full Disc\Pirates 4\BDMV\index.bdmv'
    25-Apr-2014 12:59:00 Debug [ DBImportPath]: Scanning: \\FREENAS\Films
    25-Apr-2014 12:59:00 Debug [VideoFormatExtension]: Format=Bluray, FeatureFilmFile='\\freenas\films\films_volume_1\full disc\pirates 4\bdmv\STREAM\00125.m2ts'

I just think it was trying to read that file for 9 minutes, don't know why.

I removed the folder containing that file and the problem has stopped.[DOUBLEPOST=1398429402][/DOUBLEPOST]Yep definitely, now that it is not trying to scan that file, the whole thing works quicker, even loading the movie list in a couple of seconds rather than 30 or so
