Bad artist art quality (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I have an issue with MediaPortal 1.4.
I have selected the create album art, so it creates album thumbnail using the album arts, but the thumbnails it uses are very bad quality, blury.

My album arts are 600x600 resolution, so I could espect a good artist thumbnails, but no...

Any idea what I can do?

Did you check Thumbnail Quality Setting in Config Tool?

Yes I have put the quality to the max.
But what I find strange is that when I enter the artist, the album thumbails are good. Just that the "artist" generated thumbnails (generated from albums) is very bad.

And there are some artists for which ones mediaportal is unable to generate an artist thumbnail... but all my songs have ID3 tags in them.

btw the files are FLAC but I doubt this is a problem, right?

click: start menu-> all prog -> team mp -> mp -> user files
Look in \thumbs\music\artists\

Are both the images for that artist (made from album) bad quality (%artist%.jpg & %artist%L.jpg)
Can you upload both those artist images as well as the associated %album%.jpg and %album%L.jpg image from
\thumbs\music\albums\

I'm on Windows 8.
The folder for the Artist thumbs is: C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\thumbs\Music\Artists

And this folder is empty.

My album pictures are in the ID tag. For this album the picture in the ID3 tag is 500x500.

The album folder (C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\thumbs\Music\Albums) is empty too...

I am assuming you are using the inbuilt artist thumb creation which creates a thumb of the album covers? If so this is not that good and needs replacing. I would disable this function and use the fanarthandler plugin to download real artist thumbs instead

If an artist thumb has been generated then I don't think it can be.

Off the top of my head artist thumbs are only generated during a database scan and during this scan thumbs are stored in
C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\thumbs\Music\Album

If no database scan has taken place and you browse music in shares view I think it will (by default) generate thumbs in
C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\thumbs\Music\Folder

but no artist thumbs should be generated

I'm still trying to figure out how works the Fanart Handler The scraper finds thumbnails for my albums, but none for my artists.
