Synopsis:

I have very bad audio quality with DVD playback via Media Portal. I have to turn the volume of my amp much higher than for music or regular video playback and therefor there is a lot of white noise which is almost as loud as the movie's sound.

I use a Creative Audigy Platinum Ex soundcard which is capable of decoding ac3 and I have connected the speaker outs of that card to the 5.1 inputs of my amp., which again is connected to a 5.1 speaker setup.

Currently I'm using the "MPEG/AC3/DTS/LPCM Audio Decoder" but I have tried "DScaler" and some of the others too, together with a lot of changes here and there in the Decoder Settings but with not much success.

What would be the right settings/decoder so that my audigy is doing the audio decoding and the sound is output via the speaker outs, not spdif?

Thank you very much in advance!
Nic
