Hallo -
I have a pc bought as a Media Center PC. XP Media Center Edition 2005 and all worked excellent! I had to format my pc due to total hangup and due to moving I could not find my CD`s containing XP Media Center. I used a normal XP clean installation and downloaded Media Portal in order to watch TV. But I can not find the "red thread" in this program. How many "this and thats" do I have to download and how many very long and complicated "user manuals" do have to read? This is by far the most diffucult and fragmented program I ever have tried to install on my PC. Or is it just me who has misunderstood?
Is there a STEP BY STEP Guide that can tell me how to complete my installation? I am only going to watch and record TV. My source is analog from Canal Digital in my office. The Digital Tuner is in the livingroom. Also when I press "MY TV" it asks for the IP-adress. Is this to retrieve the TV-program? It says that some port are closed etc. Every other program on my pc is able to get online so what is the problem? Does MP need exclusive ports or what is the problem?

Grateful for any help and if You write Norwegian it would of course be OK.

Welcome to the Open-Source environment, reading is your only option.... Once you start using MediaPortal you will have many many questions, so the sooner you start reading the sooner you will understand.

1) Start by reading the "Manual": MediaPortal Manual
2) Then read the "Forum Guides and Tutorials" Forum Guides and Tutorials

To answer your question about the IP-Address, read everything in the manual about the "TV-Server", because you have to configure the TV-Server and then use the IP-Address to connect to it.

Sorry there is to much details, and unless you take the time to "Read the Manual" and follow the "Forum-Rules" we can not help you.
