    Hello,

I am quite happy with my 1-tuner HTPC at the moment, but contemplating the idea of adding a second one.

With only one tuner, I can record a channel and watch a second channel from the same channel bundle (on the same frequency), but that's the limitation I want to overcome. On commercial STBs with 2 tuners, you don't have to worry about this.

How does MP manage this ? If I have 2 tuners with identical channel lists, one recording one channel, and I want to watch a different channel on a different frequency, how do I tell MP to use the second tuner, so that my recording doesn't get interrupted ? Will MP automatically use the other available tuner for that ?

    Thanks,
    Lorenzo

That's what I was looking for, thank you.

Now if one unscrambling card could be used for 2 tuners, that would be a plus, or at least if the correct tuner would be selected for recording scrambled shows. Example:

    Tuner1 has a descrambling card, tuner2 hasn't. Tuner1 has a full channel list, tuner2 has only FTA.

I am watching a FTA channel using tuner1, and a scheduled recording of a scrambled channel is starting.

Would my session be transferred to tuner2 so that I can continue watching my FTA channel while the scrambled show would be recorded ? Or would the recording fail because no tuner with descrambling capabilities is free ?

A bit of complicated question, sorry. Having 2 descrambling cards would be the bee's knees, but I am afraid it's out of a question.

you can prioritize your cards in the TVServer, so whenever possible, the card without the CAM-Module is used, and only if this card cannot tune to the wanted channel, it will use the second card with descrambling capabilities.
