Hi,

I need help to find some kind of software that can connect any generic, usb ir-receiver* to my computer (win xp) and Mediaportal. So that I may use my Logitech Harmony One remote. The only program I've found is winlirc, but it does not support usb connection...

I did a lot of googling the last time around, installed winlirc, girder, etc, but I'm not "geek" enough to sort it out. I'm just a regular user, so i need something that more or less works right out of the box.

Surely, I can't be the only "average user" who wants a remote?

* I have this one: "Remote Control Upgrade Kit for TerraTec Home Cinema" TerraTec - Shop - Aux. equipment / spare parts - TerraTec Shop Accessories

You have a few options with your remote. I did find the Intelliremote software below that appears to support both your remote and mediaportal. In reality all you need is an IR receiver from a keyboard and then program the Harmony to emulate the Mediaportal keys. You could also get a MCE 2005 remote/receiver and use the Harmony's built in MCE mode. I personally have an IR keyboard and programmed a Pronto touchscreen to the keyboard shortcuts.

The problem with MCE XP remote bundles is that they have stopped making them. I can still find MCE remotes, but not bundled with the IR-Receiver, wich is the part I actually need... The harmony can fake an mce remote, but that doesn't do me any good unless, I can get my hands on a compatible IR-Receiver.
