If I'm not mistaken, Bass player has the ability to run a parametric eq, but there doesn't seem to be any way to do that in MediaPortal. Is there a plugin I can use with MP or would such a filter needed to be added to MP itself? The MP video player supports DC-DSP filter, so I can watch movies and music videos with equalized sound.

Please look into Config -> Music -> Music DSP

there you can activate VST and Winamp DSP plugins, which will be used by BAS player then.

I still can't find an easy, flexible and yet free parametric eq for either one of those (Winamp nor VST). If you know any, please let me know.

I eventually found a good plugin for VST. Not free, but best I could find.
