Hi,

I'm setting up Media Portal with a clean install for like the third time in a few days, and this time I really want to get things right.

I have a ATI Radeon X800XL (fanless) and a Hauppauge PVR-500MCE. I'm using Windows XP MCE 2005 as OS, and now the big question:

To be able to play divx, xvid, mpeg2 (svcd) and all stuff necessary, what codec should I use? Does the ffdshow cover all that (except for svcd that I've understood is requiring another program to work).

Please help me with this issue. I really don't wanna have to make another fresh install of XP MCE 2005. This time I want it to be right.

Regards,

yes, ffdshow should play just about everything. Or your other option is to use VLC as an external player as it play just about every file ever made, even if it has some consistency problems!

Thanks. And what version of ffdshow would be the most appropriate to use?

Vlc is by far my all-time favourite player, but when i tried to use it in MP i couldn't use the remote to fast forward or rewind. Nor could i exit the player without using my keyboard instead of my remote. Any idea how to get pass those issues?
