Best remote control / no signal timeout (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I'm currently using XP Home and failed to get a remote control to work. I really would like to get a remote to work.

Which remote is easiest to setup with MP/available in the UK?
Which operating system should I get? XP MCE or full blown Windows 7?

Also on broadcasts that stop at certain times, is there a way to reduce the time before it times out and gives a no singal error?

There's a wait for timeshift file set to 15 seconds, if I remember I knocked that down to 5 and the wait for unscrambled signal became 3.

Experiment, you may have to restart tvserver for changes to take effect.

Just need to make the decision now as i'll need to get W7 which is a few ££. Just concerned when I do I won't be able to get the system working as it is now S3 standby etc.

This remote should wake the PC from standby and all buttons function as expected?

It's a proper MCE RC6 remote, so all functions will work, guaranteed with right OS, thought about changing one of my original MCE remotes for one of these as apparently have more learning abilities than original, just never had time

BTW, these originally retailed at £40+, so a bargain at that price, if disappointed I'll swap one of mine

Thanks Ray. I snapped one of them up last night. I'll test it on the wifes Win7 laptop before purchasing another copy.
