I don't know if it will help or not, but I switched to Hoborg's stand alone filters and that fixed my issue.

Since I was afraid to mess with my HTPC, where everything but playing DVDs and ISOs was working fine, I did not dare to install this codec/filter pack, but I did have the pdvd7 codecs available that Hoborg shows in the example for configuring DVD playback. And by simply selecting those instead of the default MPV/MPA, the problem was solved for me. Thanks for that tip!

I just lived the same issue.

Preface:
Everything was running smoothly, until I wanted to test blu-ray again. My licence of Corel Windvd 9 started giving code errors.
After buying Corel Windvd 2010 had to upgrade video drivers for my on board G45 intel video chips.
Then had to buy anydvd-hd to get the blu-ray working again. No way to set the area code for Windvd at B as it should be.
All worked fine ... at first sight.
When testing with a blu-ray disk of Ice Age, my mobo processor rocketted to 100%, until I started the blu-ray disk pop up menu. The disc continued to work superbly, at only 44% of CPU usage. No point in playing blu ray on 1080p, when one has to look at the pop up menu. So de-installed Windvd.
Replaced it with Arcsoft total media theatre.
Did not need anyDVD HD any more either.

Core information:
After fiddling around with all that blu-ray software, my system looked fine ...
Until I ran a DVD from server disk. When exiting the DVD, the black window kept present. Using remote, calling for main menu, the black screen resized to bottom left, and when calling TV thereafter, everything turned black again.

The solution is to use MPV decoder and to go to MP configuration - direct show filter control - Video Render setting . It was set to EVR and I turned back to VMR9. Problem was fixed instanteneously.
