Hi all.

I'VE HAD A NIGHTMARE!!!! Updated to MP1.2 & everything appeared to work fine. All plugins are working, all my media has pulled through, tbh, couldn't believe how smoothly it went. Until................. I tried to play a movie in moving pictures, I get the sound but no picture, just a plain black screen? I rebooted MP and everything worked (pictures & sound). However, the next time I fired up MP same thing, sound but no picture. I have done this about 7 times now and more often than not the error repeats.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Went to do a system restore and it not switched on (doh!) Some I'm pretty f*cked at the moment.

Many thanks

    Hi jona78

This issue might be better reported in the MovingPictures forum. Any reason why you posted here?
Either way, you should post logs for a problem like this. Please use the watchdog with option 3 to create a zip file containing your logs that you can post here.

    Hi mm
Thanks for your reply, I noticed last night that it also does this on showtimes, trailers, tv series & online videos plugins. I have used the watchdog option as requested but it doesn't create the zip file. I know it's configured correctly to do so as it will generate a zip file for other errors. I can only assume that it does not generate one for this black screen error as it doesn't crash as such, it plays the file and I can hear the audio, I am able to forward, rewind, pause etc but the screen is completely black. I have Saf 5.0 installed but don't think it is a coded problem as it will play fine occasionally. I really am stuck, any help would be greatly appreciated.
PS. I have tried a clean install but problem persists.

    Many Thanks

    Hi again jona78

    Regarding the watchdog, I meant:

    1. Run the watchdog from the "debug mode" link in the "Team MediaPortal" folder in your start menu.
    2. Select option 3 "export all currently present logs".
    3. Click "proceed".

The zip file is created on your desktop by default.

    Hi jona78

Thanks for the logs. It looks like the issue must be a codec issue as I don't see any errors in the logs as such. The format of the video that you tried to play seems like it was Xvid (is that correct?). Have you checked your FFDShow settings to ensure Xvid decoding is enabled?

    Hi mm

Yes, unfortunately I have already tried that. I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling saf, uninstalling saf & installing klite codecs.uninstalling wmp & reinstalling it but nothing seems to work.
I am contemplating a clean install of my O/S.
If I do this is there anyway of backing up my MP files. I have over 1000 films and I have had to manually input a load of backdrops, summaries, runtimes & certs it literally took me days. I really don't want to do that again!!!

    Thanks for your continued help.

Seems a bit overkill to me. Do you have your OS HDD partitioned? If you do then back all your MP settings and files up to the non-OS partition and then reinstall.

Does this behaviour happen with other skins?

    Hi.
Why are you using VMR9 renderer on Win7 instead of EVR? This can cause your problem.

You should also set MePo to use default audio renderer instead of "Speakers (3- DigiHug Track 0/1 &SPDIF)"

This is what i dont understand: (???VMR7???)

    Code:
    2011-09-20 23:08:30.396305 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: VideoPlayerVMR7: AudioLanguage CultureInfo en
    2011-09-20 23:08:30.408306 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: VideoPlayer:Duration:2151.7012969

If still no go, try disable I.F.C. pluggin. It seems it caused some crashes.
