Hi All

Well I have had an interesting holiday break. After a couple of years of no tinkering, I decided to update my HTPC from Windows XP to Windows 7 and get the latest version of MP going. I had put in a Bluray drive just before christmas.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I have had no end of trouble getting bluray going, that worked with no issue on windows XP. I have finally got the Moving pictures plugin to play the main feature on an inserted disk, but no matter what I try I can only get Dolby Digital to be passed through to the receiver. If I play a downloaded MKV file with DTS, that shows up as DTS on my receiver. This kind of suggests I have got something right. Playing Bluray using PowerDVD on windows XP gave me DTS. I can't seem to get PowerDVD to work on Windows 7, well unless I browse the drive and fire up the .mts file manually, then I still only get DD, not DTS.

I have checked ffdshow, ac3filter settings to make sure it is all set to SPDIF/HDMI passthrough.....

Has anyone else run into this problem, or even have a clue on where I can look next? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Philster

there are lots of threads about blu ray playback in and out of MP on the forums

    my suggestion is:

get yourself PowerDVD10 and forget MP for blu rays

there are other ways of getting blu rays working inside MP (BDHandler Plugin) but they are not a perfect solution !

some blu rays are encoded with H264 and some are VC1p or VC1i video

VC1i are not (smooth) playable with any codec with Win 7 (perhaps Win XP /w SP3)

so in the end you are probably better off with a stand alone PC application that can play blu rays like PowerDVD10

PS: if any1 can tell me a full video/audio codec/renderer solution for Win 7 64bit using MP ..with 3x screenshots from Graphedit using BDHandler (GaBest splitter) for VC1i and VC1p and H264 ...ill give u a gazzillion dollars ~!!! *no shyte*
