Synopsis:
How do I fix VMR9's vertical sync? I see tearing in videos, specially with fast changing animation. I tried setting vertical sync in my display driver to all settings (on, off, application controlled), but it's still there. I've tried different refresh rates (60, 72, 75, 100) and resolutions, it gets worse with higher resolutions.

VMR7 looks fine, no tearing. Playing video with Media Player Classic using VMR9 renderless also looks fine v-sync-wise.

I would also experiment with different codecs. I prefer DScaler or NVidia but people have different results with different systems.

Also, for refresh rates, try and select a multiple of your TV standards scan rate. For example, in ?Oz, we use 50Hz, which is too low for watching, so I use 75Hz which works quite well. I know you have tried them all, but it may help to know what you should be using ;-)

I can't believe this, I've seen this option there all along and never thought it had anything to do with this issue.

It's been months and I was never very satisfied with MP because of this problem, I always used an external player like WMC, now I don't need it anymore. I love MP again :D

    Thanks kamrat!

While this mode does fix the tearing, it makes the responsiveness of MP drop substantially... it takes AGES to start a video now, and I'm sure that general controls are slower.

Is there any other things to try to remove the tearing without resorting to the exclusive mode?

Turning on Exclusive mode and forcing Vsync to On (Nvidia Driver) is the best combo, and I havent really noticed any change in speed.

I will try the vsync option, might help in the non exclusive mode too.

You don't get a fair wait after selecting a video file while it switches to fullscreen mode?

I might have to look at other settings to see if there's an issue.

Hopefully the vsync option will make the non-exclusive mode work without tearing though, as it's quite responsive otherwise.
