Hello all. Here goes my first post, and rest assured I'll be back to look at it. I can see why some folks might be intimidated on these forums. I just read through this entire thread (and a few of the others). I understand about 1/4 of what I read. I consider myself pretty computer literate but have little to no knowledge in multimedia as I just started exploring it about a week ago when I bought my first TV tuner card (Hauppauge, Win TV-HVR-850). Yes I know it's a cheapy but it's what fit my current budget.
So far I've reinstalled MP three times before I figured out that I was doing the channel scan part wrong. My fault, not MPs. Although some screen shots would probably be helpful in the instructions that come up in the TV Config.
So here goes my first question.
How do I set the buffering in watching live TV? It seems like it's not buffering enough and the picture is always trying to catch up (skipping). I use the program that came with the card and another program (trial version) that I D/Ld from the internet. They both keep up fine. I watch the computer and the tv at the same time and you can tell that there is a much larger time span (buffer) between them using the other two programs.
Any way if anyone can help and/or direct me to the correct thread I'd be most grateful. Thanks in advance.
