Hi there....

I have a "bug" or a problem that i´d like to get a little help with....

If i record a tv-show of some kind, and the HTPC crash for some reason, is reset, or there is a Main-power blackout, then i can´t wiew the recording that the HTPC was in the middle of recording when it happened....

This is not a problem on my Satellite reciver (Nokia 9902s), but it offcource must be something about the file not beeing closed correctly or something like that....

Is there a fix of some kind for this, or is it just something we have to live with as long as MediaPortal record in DVR-MS ??

VideoReDo fixed the problem for a recording when that happened. Only thing was the sound was out by a lot so I had to use it to manually sync the sound back up.

    Hi!
I had the same problem when mediaportal decited to crash. I have several dvr-ms with a size over 1 GB, but I am not able to view at least a second of the video. This really decreased my WAF!
ProjectX and several other programs dont't help, I haven't used Videoredo until now. Even VirtualDub refuses to open dvr-ms. This is really annoying!

Any chances to have a more robust format or file handling? Or a recommendation for good freeware to repair dvr-ms?

    bye, urev

Do you mean that the recording is corrupted? Or do you mean that the recording doesn't show up in "recorded TV"?

The recording is corrupted, i can´t view it at all, when my HTPC for any reason crash or i have a power loss......

Actually i don´t know if the recording show up in "recorded TV", as i have a pointer or a link :?: to the "recorded tv folder" from the movie-player in MediaPortal....
(This i have done becource i don´t see any point in having to remember if the recording is hidden under "my recordings" or not.... )

    BTW:
I found that VideoReDo, can do the job to convert the corrupted recording to something i can view......
But it would be a lot better if this "feature" was inside MediaPortal....
Or perhaps if the recording engine used a format that didn´t care if it was roughly terminated in the middle of a recording or not.....
(Just like my Nokia 9902s satellite reciver  )

I agree with the fact that a MPEG2 stream, even bad terminated should be viewable whatever happends. Since MP is using DVR-MS (which is MPEG2 with some header AFAIK) is there a way to define these headers at the start of the recording and modify them if it's necessary at the end ? Cause I think that if the file is not readable that's because its headers are not filled correctly.
