Yeah I like FlexRaid, I actually have a spare 4 port hardware RAID card that has only been out of the box for testing in a server environment. It has only been used for 3hrs, but it is staying in the box and will probably go on ebay.
Steam , MMmmmmm now that is a thought, obviously a steamy environment the kitchen. Will look into this when i get home :) my thoughts are running now. Damn why does work always get in the way lol.
Unfortunatly for me there is nowhere to put it upstairs as all the bedrooms are full with the kids lol.
I am handy with network cables, have all the gear and 500m of cable on a drum :)
I was looking at wireless but it isnt good enough for HD stuff yet.
I may have a browse around later to see if i can build in a condensation trap into the ducting somehow (it would be good to route it to the kitchen at a low point behind a cupboard :)
It would be like having a forced air heating system in the kitchen which would be fantastic :)

surely a wireless N network would be capable of this

from what i can gather wireless isnt good at any speed for HD content. This is mentioned here Asrock ION330 thread and i have read about it in a LOT of other forums. Seems that frames and allsorts get dropped.
I know that Asus are making a box at the moment to stream HD stuff wirelessly BUT it will be VERY expensive :(
I would rather stick to wired and have a full Gigabit network rather than wireless with all its quirks etc. Just my thoughts though.
    Regards
