Hi All,
I'm building my very first HTPC and I have a question over which tv tuner to buy - or even if i should buy one.
My HTPC currently has the following specs:
- AMD 64 3700+
- 2GB RAM
- NVidia 7800GT
- 500GB (videos) / 200GB (tv recordings) / 40GB (OS) HDD's
- Silverstone LC20
- MCE remote
- DVD-RW
I'm intending on using it on a 42" plasma (1080i, and since i already have an HD STB I'm not sure if its worthwhile selling it and buying a TV tuner. I don't consider all the timeshifting and TV recording to be the most important thing - if the tuner card ends up dropping frames and slowing down because the HTPC isn't fast enough then i'd stick with the STB.
From looking at the forum it seems that my best options in Australia (Tasmania), would be either the Hauppauge NOVA T-500 (http://www.scorptec.com.au/product/18978/) or the DVICO FusionHDTV Dual4 card (http://www.scorptec.com.au/product/20964).
Would these display a good picture considering the hardware i already have?
Thanks in advance for any answers.
